Texas Instruments' TPD3S014 / 44 series integrated current-limiting switch devices feature current-limiting load switches and two-channel transient voltage suppressor (TVS) based electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection diode arrays for USB interfaces.
The TPD3S014 / 44 device is suitable for applications such as USB that may encounter large capacitive loads and short circuits. TPD3S014 / 44 provides short circuit protection and over current protection. When the output load exceeds the current limit threshold, they limit the output current to a safe level by operating in constant current mode. Fast overload response reduces the burden on the 5V mains supply by quickly adjusting the power supply when the output is shorted. Control the rise and fall times of the current limit switch to minimize current surges when turning the device on and off.
