Molex now offers the MXP120 sealed connector system for safety and non-safety automotive electronics applications. For non-safety powertrain and body electronics applications, the system has a black housing, while for safety applications, the connectors and sockets have a unique yellow housing.
The 4mm pitch and 1.2mm pitch of the MXP120 system provide excellent fit, sealing, and performance for harsh applications. In addition to 1 × 3, 1 × 4, and 1 × 6 circuit sizes, the connection system also includes a small 1 × 2 version that meets the ergonomic requirements of USCAR-25, especially relative to the CPA putter surface. The company said that automotive and commercial vehicle manufacturers can use MXP120 devices instead of 1.5mm terminal connections in space-constrained applications.
"Unlike most existing 1.20mm connection systems, the MXP120 has scratch protection for all circuit sizes and polarities, preventing pins from being damaged during mating," said Benoît Lehaut, global product manager at Molex. "The connector provides excellent mating performance by producing an audible click when mated and effectively protecting the connector latch."
