RS components are now available in the PIC architecture and Microchip's PIC16F family of microcontrollers is available through a variety of pin and package options. The PIC16F1885x / 1887xx microcontrollers are based on Microchip's enhanced mid-range cores and are the first devices to include many new low-power features. Idle and hibernate modes are added along with peripheral module disablement, which allows peripherals to be removed from the power rail and clock tree for zero power consumption. In addition, these devices are Microchip's first PIC® MCUs with integrated analog-to-digital converters (ADC2). Functions such as accumulation, averaging, and low-pass filter calculations are done in the ADC hardware rather than the MCU software, freeing the CPU's sleep or performing other tasks.
